The Junior Tournaments for the U16 and U12s was held on Sunday 9 February at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre, and the parents who stayed to watch were in for a treat, particularly as Storm Ciara was raging outside.

In the U16 competition in the morning, sadly no girls entered at all, so only the two Boys competitions were run.

U16 Boys Singles

6 boys entered the competition from 3 different clubs, who played a round robin competition to 21 points with some great games.

The winner was the player with the best record, but it came down to the final game between Myles Molloy-Sherratt and Anthony Garwood, who had an equal record to that point. Myles was just too strong and took the trophy with Anthony a worthy runner up.

U16 Boys Doubles

3 pairs took part in a round robin competition of 2 games to 21 points, all the games were well fought, but the top two singles players paired together were just too strong. Myles Molloy-Sherratt and Anthony Garwood took the trophy with Jack Hayter and Freddy Woodfine strong runners up.

There was a good turnout for all categories in the afternoon session, with 6 boys and 8 girls from 4 different clubs competing

U12 Boys Singles

6 boys took part in a round robin competition to 15 points with all players acquitting themselves well. The winner was the player with the best record, and two players had equal records. This meant the trophy would go to the player who had scored most points, and the difference between the two players was one point ! 8 year old star of the future Yashmit Polisetty took the trophy with Dominic James an unlucky runner-up

U12 Girls Singles

7 girls took part in a round robin competition to 15 points, again all players played to a great standard. The winner was theplayer with the best record, and this went to an unbeaten Monica Polisetty, with Emily O'Neill a worthy runner up having only lost one close game.

U12 Boys Doubles

Only 2 pairs competed in the Boys Doubles, and they played a best of 3 competition to 21 points, all the games were very close and all 3 sets were required, Yashmit added to the Polisetty trophy haul with his partner Sam Choi, and the brothers Adam and Dominic James were strong runners up

U12 Girls Doubles

4 pairs took part in a round robin competition to 21 points and all the games were close, Ella Cox and Emily O'Neill were just too strong and were unbeaten to take the trophy, with Nicole Booth and Monica Polisetty runners up close behind.

The U14 and U18 Tournaments take place on 15 March at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre, deadline for entries is 8 March
