Recently we have discussed the notion of offering some First Aid Training to members of our league. This is not because the game is getting more dangerous but it is seen as a way the league can give something back to members. Most of us play in sports centres where there are trained staff so we may not give a lot of thought to it. The Exec decided to ask the question to see what level of response there may be. Nothing as been researched so far other than to say that Everybody Sport and Leisure (whose services a lot of us use) offer some courses and they would be a first port of call. We would ask for something specific to badminton court injury/illness. Given it is the close season, the offer discussed at the AGM may struggle to get through to clubs who aren't operating over the Summer.
If this might be of interest to you then please let me know by email. If there is sufficient demand we can look into organising something. Some basic First Aid is a useful tool to have, given most of our bodies are showing some signs of wear and tear. The odd on-court muscle trauma is not unknown. This would not replace anything the sports centres can do for us, it is an additional safeguard.
